Rashtriya Military Schools Admission Preperation
Every year, Rashtriya Military Schools accept students in grades VI through XII. These schools are part of the Central Board of Secondary Education and have branches in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.
Entrance to these schools is accomplished by a common admission exam administered by the institute. In addition to the entrance exam, the candidate must pass a medical examination. Every December, a standard entrance examination is held for admission to these schools, which is overseen by the integrated headquarters, the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

What is Rashtriya Military School?
The Rashtriya Military Schools were formed to provide education to the children of defense personnel. For the first time, entrance to these institutions was granted to children of defense service members and civilians in 1952.
The school’s name and motto were changed to ‘Military School’ in 1960, and the motto was substituted with ‘Sheelam Param Bhushanam.’ In 2007, the name ‘Military School’ was changed once more to Rashtriya Military School.
Rashtriya Military Schools are residential public schools that teach in English. They are managed by the Ministry of Defence and provide high-quality education to children of military personnel and citizens from grades VI through XII.
The fundamental goal of these institutions is to offer kids with a quality education while also teaching them discipline so that they would be prepared to serve their country.
There are 5 Rashtriya Military Schools located in India, and these are as follows:

2. RMS Ajmer in Rajasthan

Eligibility Criteria for Rashtriya Military Schools
Eligibility for Standard VI
Boys are the only ones who can apply for admission to Rashtriya Military Schools. To gain entry to class VI, you must be at least 10 years old and no older than twelve years old. Applicants who are the wards of army personnel killed in battle are eligible for a six-month age reduction. To be admitted to standard VI, candidates must have passed class V from a government-recognized board. Furthermore, candidates from the weaker sections of society are eligible for reservations under the Government of India’s regulations.

Exam Pattern of Rashtriya Military Schools
- Class VI Examination Pattern
The common entrance test for class VI is based on OMR, and the level of examination is usually from the preceding class, that is, class V. English, Arithmetic, General Knowledge, and Intelligence are the four disciplines included in the examination. Each subject is worth 50 points, and candidates must pass this test to advance.
- Class IX Examination Pattern
The common entrance test for class IX is also OMR-based, and the examination level is determined by the level of the class VIII syllabus. The examination consists of five subjects: English, Hindi, Social Science, and Math. Each subject is worth 50 points, and candidates must qualify for the test by scoring at least 50% in each subject.
Syllabus of Rashtriya Military School Entrance Test
As previously stated, the test for class VI covers four subjects: English, math, GK, and Reasoning, with the standard of the questions based on the level of class V. Similarly, the subjects for the class 9 entrance exams are English, Hindi, social science, science, math, and reasoning. The examination is multilingual, which means that candidates can take it in either Hindi or English.
